             CASE #3

 

        This patient was diagnosed with new, fresh wet macular degeneration in that eye. A referral was sent immediately to the retinal surgeon who was able to see her the same day. Lucentis injections were initiated at that visit and were continued for many months afterward.      As you can see, the bleeding has resolved and the patient has regained most of her vision. Before Lucentis, the best we could hope for was to slow down the vision loss. Now, surgeons have better options for our patients, as long as we can diagnose the problem and start treatment early enough.
